NIH Renews Chemistry–Biology Interface Training Grant
The National Institute of General Medical Sciences, part of the NIH, has awarded Cornell University a $2.5 million, five-year renewal of its Chemistry–Biology Interface (CBI) Predoctoral Training Program.
Directed by Professor Jeremy M. Baskin, the highly competitive training grant supports graduate students from numerous graduate fields spanning the chemical and biological sciences and engineering who pursue interdisciplinary research at the chemistry–biology interface. The program brings together 23 faculty mentors from eight departments and institutes across five Cornell colleges and has been continuously funded by the NIH since 1996.
Trainees receive rigorous cross-disciplinary scientific training along with professional development, career education, mentor-guided research, and experiential learning opportunities, including a required internship. CBI-sponsored symposia, workshops, and seminars are also open to the broader Cornell graduate community, extending the program’s impact across campus.
