C&CB Welcomes Prof. Todd Hyster!

Prof. Todd Hyster, previously of Princeton University, has joined the Department of at Cornell University. Prof. Hyster is a leader in the area of biocatalysis and is well-known for his efforts to harness the use of cofactor containing enzymes for driving challenging molecular transformations in organic chemistry that lie outside of nature. In particular, Prof. Hyster exploits photochemical processes inherent to enzymes to elicit new chemistry driven by light. Having trained with Tomislav Rovis (now of Columbia University) in Organic Chemistry and Nobel Laureate Frances Arnold (Caltech) in Protein Engineering, Prof. Hyster brings with him to Cornell an exciting interdisciplinary program at the forefront of chemical synthesis, reaction mechanism, biochemistry, and enzymology.
