The Department of notes the passing of Swarthmore College Professor Emeritus of Chemistry, Robert Pasternack. Bob obtained both his undergraduate degree and his Ph.D. in Chemistry at Cornell, the latter under the guidance of Professor Robert Plane in 1962. He went on to teach at Ithaca College for 20 years then followed that with a long and impactful career as a researcher and educator at Swarthmore, where he held the Edmund Allen Chair of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
