Dr. Robert L. Wolke, Cornell Alumnus, dies at 93

The Department of notes the passing of University of Pittsburgh Professor Emeritus of Chemistry, Dr. Robert L. Wolke. Bob obtained his Ph.D. in Nuclear Chemistry at Cornell, and went on to have a long and impactful career as a researcher and educator at the University of Pittsburgh. During his tenure at Pitt, Bob served as academic dean on one of Pitt’s earliest Semester at Sea voyages. He also served as the chemistry editor of the Gale Encyclopedia of Science, authored several textbooks (Impact: Science on Society and Chemistry Explained) as well as multiple books aimed to explain scientific phenomena in non-technical terms (What Einstein Didn't Know: Scientific Answers to Everyday Questions and many others).
